Three more notes for leagues:
1. The renovations to the beach volleyball courts are mostly complete. One improvement was the addition of new sand. With the extra sand, the nets have essentially been lowered about two inches. As such, the net needs to be placed ON TOP of the pin to achieve the proper net height. Do not put the pin through the hole. Note: You may need to loosen the top of the net in order to adjust the height. We cannot find the crank. Please ask the office for the wrench.
2. The official league ball is the yellow and white Wilson ball. However, before the start of play if all teams within a tier agree to use a different ball, another ball may be used.
3. The washrooms are open now. Only one person at a time is permitted in each washroom. Please wash your hands before playing. We will provide disinfectant spray for cleaning the balls and rake/shovel handles.
June 16, 2020:
Leagues will begin June 22. The registration deadline is June 19. The league fee is $250 + GST per team. We will send an email with the link to pay league fees on June 20 after the lottery for new teams. Due to the shorter season, we will not have a Welcome Week. Official ladder play will begin June 22.
Confirmed returning teams are listed on the corresponding league webpage. If you are a registered member of a confirmed team, you may play on any open/unbooked courts June 15-21, even though we have not issued Player Cards yet. You will need to bring ID that includes your address and check in at the office before playing.

Please see our Beach Volleyball Policies document for complete details. Membership and court bookings rules have changed to include tracking of participants via the Skedda Scheduling app (or for non-members, via the admin office). Beach league registration begins today. See Leagues page for details.
June 1, 2020:
Today’s update from Alberta’s chief medical officer was encouraging. If her updates continue to be favourable over the next two weeks, we will begin preparations to open the beach volleyball courts for Stage 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy, which is currently slated for June 19.
May 24, 2020:
The City of Edmonton has reopened volleyball courts. However, games are restricted to people in the same household or family cohort, and league play is not permitted. As the household/cohort rule excludes the majority of our members, we will wait until the restrictions loosen before opening the beach courts. We hope that this happens in Stage 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy. Thank you for your patience.
May 14, 2020:
Although Stage 1 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy allows “some additional outdoor recreation” to proceed, beach volleyball does NOT meet the criteria for risk mitigation (physical distancing and not sharing common equipment). As such, the beach volleyball courts continue to be CLOSED until further notice.
